Safety:
Safety Thursdays
> July
Landstar’s safety-first culture is put into practice daily through Landstar’s safety training and education programs. Landstar agents, third-party capacity owners and employees participate in a multitude of training and educational programs to increase safety awareness and decrease the likelihood of accidents, injury and cargo loss.
BCOs have access to safety programs such as C.A.B.S. (Continued Awareness of Business & Safety) and D.D.C. (Defensive Driving Course) at various locations throughout the U.S. Landstar also offers extensive online safety training to BCOs and has driving simulators at 3 locations.
Safety Thursday is part of an ongoing safety education program which includes a conference call on the third Thursday of each month at noon Eastern. Every faction of the Landstar family participates in an open discussion of the monthly topic, which is posted on online.
Landstar’s Mutual Understanding of Safety Together, or M.U.S.T., is a safety program involving a collaborative effort on the part of Landstar agents, employees, BCOs and customers to implement safety conscious practices during loading, shipping and receiving.
As part of Landstar’s community outreach program, upon request, Landstar conducts No-Zone safety education presentations to students of driving ages. Additional safety education programs are offered to the community in partnership with the DOT.
Landstar’s commitment to safety is reflected, not only in training and educational programs, but also through the carrier’s safety ratings and customer satisfaction.
