Each year, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) puts on the world’s largest targeted enforcement on commercial vehicles – Roadcheck. Every June, approximately 10,000 CVSA-certified local, state provincial and federal inspectors at 1,500 locations across North America perform truck and bus inspections.
Last year, on average, from Canada to Mexico, 17 trucks or buses were inspected every minute during the 72-hour period. It’s estimated by the CVSA that Roadcheck 2009 saved 17 lives and helped avoid 307 injuries. According to the CVSA, since its inception in 1988, the roadside inspections conducted during Roadcheck have numbered over 1 Million, resulting in more than 220 lives saved and 4,045 injuries avoided.
Roadcheck 2010 is scheduled for June 1-3. Please be certain that you and your vehicle are properly prepared for potential inspection at all times.
The event is one of a series of annual activities whereby CVSA-certified inspectors conduct compliance, enforcement and educational initiatives targeting commercial motor carrier vehicle, driver and cargo safety and security.
