Employees of the Year
Jacksonville, Florida (NASDAQ-LSTR) Landstar System, Inc., a safety-first non-asset based provider of transportation capacity and logistics services, has named Hellen Heimert and Latosha McFarlin Employees of the Year for 2008
They were chosen as the best of the best among the 24 Employees of the Month selected during 2008 from Landstar’s service centers in Rockford, Illinois, and Jacksonville, Florida.
The Rockford service center’s Employee of the Year, Heimert, is a recruiting coordinator in the Capacity Development department. Heimert has been with the company since June of 2004. She was honored for her cheerful attitude and willingness to help others in the department.
“Hellen is always a go-to person for us. She is the first person to cheer on her co-workers when they do well and offers assistance to those who are sometimes overwhelmed with workload and deadlines,” said Tammie Ireland, a manager in the Capacity Development department. “She is a pleasure to work with.”
Heimert grew up in Minnesota, but has lived in the Rockford area for 42 years. In her spare time, Hellen enjoys bowling, traveling and watching NASCAR.
The Jacksonville service center’s Employee of the Year, McFarlin, is a representative in the Compliance department. McFarlin has been with the company since March 2000. She was honored for her outstanding work ethic, high productivity and willingness to take on new challenges.
“Latosha always displays a high degree of integrity, responsibility and ambition. She is a team player, assisting her peers when needed and using her good judgment and mature outlook to ensure a logical and practical approach to all her endeavors,” said Theresa Broadbent, Director of Operator and Equipment Compliance. “We are very proud of her for earning Employee of the Year.”
A native of Miami, McFarlin moved to Jacksonville in 1990. She has two sons ages, 14 and 12, and a daughter, age 11. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her children, reading and watching movies.
Landstar President and CEO Henry Gerkens commended Heimert and McFarlin for their excellent service to the company.
“Hellen and Latosha represent the hard work, dedication and talent that are required to succeed in business,” said Gerkens. “We are proud to showcase them as our Employees of the Year.”
