Cargo Securement
HOME >  Landstar Advantage > November

A notch in a strap could put the brakes on your career as a professional driver or a carrier’s ability to conduct business because securement violations can negatively impact one’s Federal Motor Carrier Compliance Safety Accountability (CSA) scorecard.

Load securement violations under CSA are not as easy to spot as you might expect. To be safe, do not use tie downs that have ANY damage – from a 3/4" rip to something as small as a nick. And remember, additional straps are required if cargo is not blocked against forward motion.

BCOs need to fully understand the Cargo Securement criteria listed from 393.100 to 393.136 in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as well as Hazardous Material regulations. Knowledge is power!
