LSO Best Practices: Complete and Accurate Dispatch
HOME >  Landstar Advantage > February

Complete and Accurate information at dispatch helps reduce late pick-ups and deliveries, claims, accidents, conflicts and, above all, keeps customers satisfied. Use the following guidelines when dispatching a load:

  • Make safety the number one priority – always.
  • Communicate specifics. Accurate dimensions and description of freight is essential. Just as important: pick-up and delivery dates, times, addresses, contact information, check calls, and special instructions, along with rate and mile verification.
  • Ask Questions. For example, "Do high risk procedures need to be followed?"
  • Set up in advance communication of key events like times for loading and in-transit or delivery check calls. Remember, BCOs are required to report in when empty on every load.
Time spent up front on Complete and Accurate Dispatch will save you time and hassle in the end. The best surprise is no surprise!
