Landstar Names Kruse Employee of the Month

January 15, 2004 Jacksonville, Florida (NASDAQ-LSTR) - Landstar System, Inc., a safety-first transportation capacity provider, has named Kristin Kruse January Employee of the Month for Landstar's Rockford, Illinois, Service Center.

Six co-workers who cited Kruse's professionalism, willingness to help and support as reasons why they singled her out for the honor, nominated Kruse, a representative in Landstar's Carrier Group Administration.

"Kristin's cheerful personality and excellent customer service skills make her an excellent candidate for our first Employee of the Month for 2004," said Landstar President and COO Henry Gerkens, "I encourage you to join me in congratulating her."

Kruse, who lives in Rockford, Illinois, enjoys the outdoors and spending time with her two sons. She joined Landstar in November 1996.
