April 26, 2000 Jacksonville, FL - Landstar System, Inc., a safety-first transportation and information services company, announced today the promotion of Cheryl Smith to Director of Qualifications. In her new position, Smith will oversee the contractor qualifications program and procedures for Landstar.
Smith started with Jacksonville subsidiary Landstar Ranger in 1992 as a temporary employee in the Accounting Department. Later that year, she accepted a full-time position in the Safety Services Department, where she worked her way up to Qualifications Manager.
"Cheryl has proven herself to be a valuable member of the safety team," said Landstar Vice President and Chief Safety Officer, Pat O'Malley. "Her hands-on experience in safety makes Cheryl the right fit for this position."
