“I spend a lot of time cleaning and keeping my truck in good working shape, and felt like I needed to participate in an event where people would take notice,” remembers Grimshaw.
Grimshaw spent weeks readying his 2007 Peterbilt 379 EXHD and 2010 Great Dane trailer for the April beauty contest. Every last detail was covered, from the wax and polish, to painting the motor and frame of the truck.
“I spent about 150 hours myself, plus the help of friends and my dad,” says Grimshaw, whose father, Bob, also is a BCO leased on with Landstar.
At the end of the three-day show, Grimshaw’s elbow grease earned him second place in the Pride & Polish Truck Beauty Contest in the Combo Wash and Shine division.
Grimshaw, who leased on to Landstar in 2009, is already a winner among the Landstar family. The BCO won the Bestway Inc. Truck Beauty Contest twice, and, as a result, his 2007 Peterbilt was featured on the Bestway agency’s annual mousepad calendar.
