Landstar Transportation Logistics Inc. took home three safety accolades from the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA) 2023 Conference.

Landstar Three Million Mile Safe Driver and Roadstar® recipient Ray Price was honored with the SC&RA 2023 Million Miler Safety Award.

“It felt good to be honored with another safety award and know that my efforts are appreciated,” said Price. This safety award is one of many Price has earned over the years and says he values the safety advice and support he gets from Landstar. Price added, “I’ve really put my life into being with Landstar, and they haven’t let me down. I feel appreciated and I’ve found my family with Landstar.”

Each year, the SC&RA selects one professional driver nominated by an SC&RA member company, like Landstar, who accumulated a minimum of one million consecutive miles of safe driving within the industry.

Price has been a Landstar business capacity owner (BCO) for 34 years, and primarily hauls heavy/oversized loads. In 2006, he had over two million miles of safe driving under his belt and was awarded the Landstar Roadstar® designation. By 2013 he earned the Three Million Mile Safe Driver recognition and in 2017 he was given the Landstar BCO Lifetime Achievement Award. Price was nominated for the SC&RA award this year by Landstar’s safety department.

In addition to the Million Miler Safety Award, SC&RA also awarded Landstar Transportation Logistics Inc. with the Transportation Fleet Mileage Category Award for having the lowest accident frequency in the Over 100 Million Miles category. Landstar also earned a Fleet Safety Improvement Award for reducing the accident frequency rate for miles traveled, compared to the previous year. This is the second year in a row Landstar was recognized for reducing its already low accident frequency.

SC&RA is an international trade association of more than 1,400 members from 46 nations. Each year firms across the United States and around the world submit entries to the SC&RA Award competition, which recognizes worldwide excellence in the crane, rigging and specialized transportation industry. The Landstar Roadstar® status is one of the highest levels of recognition a BCO can receive at Landstar. BCO is Landstar’s term for the independent truck owner-operators who provide the company with transportation capacity under exclusive lease agreements.
