Landstar Names Smith Employee of the Month

April 5, 2002 Jacksonville, Florida - Landstar System, Inc., a safety-first transportation capacity provider, has named Christy Smith, Manager of Employee Development, Jacksonville Service Center Employee of the Month for April 2002.

Smith began her career with Landstar in 1999. She worked as an Account Analyst in Accounts Receivable before becoming Employee Training Supervisor. Last month, she was promoted to Employee Development Manager in the company's Quality Assurance department.

Smith always shows an interest in what questions fellow employees may have or how she can help them. She is known as the "tour guide", taking new employees on their first tour of the Landstar corporate headquarters and the various departments they will be involved with.

"Christy's involvement with employees does not end when they leave her classroom. She follows every new employee, congratulating them as they reach tenure milestones." said Landstar President and COO Henry Gerkens. "She is a bright face that represents what Landstar and team spirit is all about."

Smith lives in Jacksonville with husband and stepson. She enjoys fishing and the beach.
