February 4, 2003 Jacksonville, Florida - Landstar System, Inc., a safety-first non-asset-based transportation capacity provider, has named Christy Smith Employee of the Year.
Landstar President and COO Henry Gerkens cited Smith for her outstanding contribution as Manager of Employee Development.
"Over the course of last year, Christy made great strides in establishing training and development programs for Landstar employees that are important to the company's success," said Gerkens. "Her dedication to quality work is a fine example of how Landstar maintains its position as a leader in the transportation services industry."
A Landstar employee since 1999, Smith worked as an account analyst in Accounts Receivable before becoming Employee Training Supervisor. In March 2000, she was promoted to her current position in the company's Quality Assurance department.
Smith was chosen Employee of the Year from a group of 24 Landstar employees selected monthly from the Jacksonville, Florida, and Rockford, Illinois, service centers during 2002. Smith held the honor in April.
Smith lives in Jacksonville with husband and stepson. She enjoys fishing and the beach.
