May 12, 2004 Jacksonville, Florida – Landstar System, Inc., a safety-first provider of transportation capacity, has named 17 business capacity owners (BCOs) to this year’s class of Landstar Roadstars. The professional truck operators were recognized for their lifetime achievement earlier this month at a dinner in their honor during Landstar’s annual convention in Marco Island, Florida. A Roadstar is the highest level of recognition in the Landstar system. The term "business capacity owner” refers to the small business owners who supply the company with the equipment used to haul freight.
Roadstars are honored for their consistently high levels of safety productivity and excellent customer service. Each is a Landstar Million Mile Safe Driver and only a select few are recognized as Roadstars each year. Out of more than 8,000 Landstar BCOs, 17 were chosen for this year’s class, raising the number of Landstar Roadstars to 266 since the company began presenting the award in 1990.
"We’re proud to be associated with the BCOs who have earned this lifetime achievement award. They represent the best in safety and quality in the transportation industry,” said Landstar President and COO Henry Gerkens. "Roadstars understand the value of delivering the safest, most reliable transportation services available.”
