September 6, 2000 Jacksonville, FL - Landstar System, Inc., a safety-first transportation and information services company, announced today that CONTECH CONSTRUCTION PRODUCTS INC. has named Landstar Logistics 2000 Carrier of the Year. The construction products company selected Landstar Logistics out of 100 companies for this prestigious award, recognizing its high standards for flexibility, safety, and service in delivering products to plants across the nation. The award was presented to Landstar Logistics Agent Chuck McDaniel at a dinner held in his honor.
"This is the first full year we've worked with Landstar Logistics," said David Senften, transportation manager for CONTECH. "Chuck and his staff deserve the credit for the turnaround that has produced a volume of over $1.8 million during our fiscal year."
McDaniel's Landstar Logistics agency near Memphis, Tennessee, was chosen as CONTECH's national long-haul carrier in February, 1999, and transports corrugated drainage pipe and steel coils from most of the company's plants and CONTECH's steel processors.
"I'm just the one who put the deal together, the one in the spotlight," said McDaniel. "I couldn't have done it without Landstar or the frontline people in my agency. They're the one's who really earned the award." McDaniel says he plans to continue growing his relationship with CONTECH.
"It is very satisfying to see Chuck recognized for his hard work and exceptional service," said Landstar Logistics President Jim Hertwig. "Everyone at Landstar strives to deliver the best in safe, reliable transportation services."
