Safety has always come first at Landstar because it saves lives, reduces potential freight damage and gives our customers the high-quality service they’ve come to expect with us.

Our culture of safety starts with a commitment to standards of behaviors across our entire network. We begin with strict owner-operator qualification requirements. We also provide safety orientation and ongoing training opportunities for both agents and owner-operators leased to Landstar. However, our safety-first culture extends far beyond that.

Landstar Safety Officers (LSOs) are designated at every independent agency, and they support us in providing education, training and awareness programs.

Initiatives like Mutual Understanding of Safety Together (M.U.S.T.) bring Landstar’s safety team, sales agents and customers together to create safety solutions to address unique customer situations.

And, our monthly Safety Thursday conference calls – which started in 1991 -- bring together employees, agents, owner-operators, customers and law enforcement agencies to discuss safety practices.

The Industry’s Safest Truck Operators

Nothing demonstrates Landstar’s commitment to safety more than our fleet of about 1,100 Million Mile Safe Drivers and Landstar Roadstar® honorees, who have driven 1 million+ consecutive miles with Landstar without a preventable accident, and handle freight in a professional, claim-free manner unmatched in the industry. Wherever we move your freight, safety comes with us.
