Jacksonville, Florida (NASDAQ-LSTR) Landstar System, Inc., a safety-first non-asset based provider of transportation capacity and logistics services, has named Erica Lafin and Kristi Hesford the September Employees of the Month at the company’s service centers in Rockford, Illinois, and Jacksonville, Florida, respectively.
Lafin, a loss prevention coordinator for the Safety Services department for the Landstar Carrier Group, has been with the company since March of 2005. She was nominated by her department for continually going above and beyond her job responsibilities to help others.
“Erica always volunteers to help others in the department and I have never heard her complain,” said Heidi Mrowiec, a fellow loss prevention coordinator in Safety Services. “She receives numerous compliments for her positive attitude and excellent customer service skills. Landstar is lucky to have Erica.”
Lafin, who grew up in Chicago, has called Poplar Grove, near Rockford, her home for 8 years. She is married with two daughters, ages 12 and 10. In her spare time, Lafin enjoys spending time with family, working on her home and traveling.
Kristi Hesford, a freight coordinator in the Freight Operations department, has been with the Landstar Carrier Group since May of 2006. She was nominated by members of her department, customers and a Business Capacity Owner (BCO) for her problem solving ability during challenging situations. BCO is Landstar’s term for the independent contractors who provide the company with transportation capacity under exclusive lease arrangements.
“Kristi is a very detail-oriented person who sees things to completion,” said Bruce Scott, a manager in Freight Operations for the Carrier Group. “Those skills proved beneficial as she recently went the extra mile to help prevent a potential claim issue.”
Hesford, who grew up in St. Augustine, Florida, has lived in Jacksonville for 13 years. She has three sons ages 15, 12 and 8. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her sons, going to the beach and taking road trips.
Landstar President and CEO Henry Gerkens commended Lafin and Hesford for their “team first” attitudes.
“Landstar’s business model is built around individuals who come together as a team to serve our customers and these two employees are prime examples of our model at work,” said Gerkens. “We are fortunate to have them on our team.”
