Landstar announced the winners of two annual safety awards at the 2026 Landstar Agent Convention in April. The awards were the Landstar Safety Officer (LSO) of the Year and the Mutual Understanding of Safety Together (M.U.S.T.) Customer of the Year.
Mark Daniel of Daniel Marketing and B&M Transportation, located in St. Augustine, Florida, was named Landstar’s 2025 Safety Officer of the Year at the company’s annual event for independent Landstar agents. Landstar requires each of its over 1,000 freight agencies to name an individual responsible for upholding Landstar’s safety-first culture at the agency. Each month, Landstar names a Landstar Safety Officer of the Month, from which the Landstar Safety Officer of the Year is selected.
“As a Landstar Safety Officer and independent freight agent, Mark has led his team in enhancing his agency’s safety performance with a hands-on approach,” said Matt Miller, Chief Safety and Operations Officer of Landstar Transportation Logistics. “He truly exemplifies the strong safety culture that defines Landstar’s network of independent agents and business capacity owners.”
Daniel's long history of supporting Landstar’s safety-first culture, attention to detail, and dedication to promoting a secure work environment has helped his team reduce shortage claims. Through safety education efforts, Daniel has also reduced the number of preventable backing-maneuver accidents and improved his business's overall performance. His commitment to actively improving his agency’s accident frequencies has earned him recognition as the 2025 LSO of the Year.

Landstar’s Mutual Understanding of Safety Together (M.U.S.T.) program is a customer relationship that begins with a thorough on-site facility review, followed by collaborative analysis and discussion to address safe loading, unloading, securement, and other safety practices.
At its 2026 Agent Convention, Landstar announced Raytheon of Arlington, Virginia, as its 2025 Overall Landstar M.U.S.T. Customer of the Year. Landstar Vice President of Safety, Compliance, and the Service Center of Excellence, Shelly Seaton, announced the award. Also recognized was LSO and independent Landstar Agent Joelle Tucker, who owns Diversified Trucking Services Inc., of Vail, Arizona, the agency that works with Raytheon.
During a 2025 visit to three of Raytheon’s facilities in East Camden, Arkansas, Forest, Mississippi, and Huntsville, Alabama, Landstar safety team members toured loading areas and observed the new No Fall Protection System, which protects operators while standing on flatbed, step-deck, and Conestoga trailers. Across Raytheon’s facilities, dunnage, strap-tension tools, spotter procedures, and entry and exit safety were observed and discussed, resulting in solutions that supported Raytheon's needs while upholding Landstar's high safety standards.
“This relationship demonstrates a clear and consistent commitment by the customer to safety, security, and service, thanks to open lines of communication facilitated by our LSO,” said Seaton at the award presentation. “Raytheon’s diligence in making safety a priority has earned them Landstar’s Overall M.U.S.T. Customer of the Year Award.”
