RBC Freight, a Landstar Agency in Sulphur Springs, Texas, believes in “keeping it in the family.” Only it’s no secret that business capacity owner (BCO) Omar Castillo and his wife, Agent Gabriela Sandoval, have found success on both sides of freight transportation. Simply, from planning shipping logistics to final delivery, they’ve got it handled.

Over the past four years, the couple has expanded their fleet to match their family of four. The success of their dual entrepreneurship depends on navigating their roles as an agent and a BCO while balancing the demands of parenthood. Although this journey is no small feat, Sandoval credits their strong relationship with making it more manageable. 

“Working with my husband has been essential,” Sandoval explained. “While I bring industry knowledge, he offers invaluable hands-on experience. He’s handled trailer breakdowns and knows which roads to avoid due to potholes. With his insight, I’m able to support our capacity and customers in ways I couldn’t otherwise.”

Likewise, as a BCO, Castillo has benefited from Sandoval’s customer insight, making his work smoother and communication more effective.

Since starting RBC Freight, the whole family has met at delivery locations, as well as attended cross-border summits and the BCO All-Star Celebration, where Castillo was recognized for driving more than one million consecutive miles without a preventable accident.  

“My favorite part is building something together,” Castillo said. “It’s more than just work; it’s about creating greater family time and flexibility. That balance has made our business even more rewarding.”
