Landstar Transportation Logistics, Inc. has earned multiple Transportation Safety Awards from the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA), including the 2026 Transportation Fleet Mileage Category Award, the Longevity Award, and the Million Miler Safety Award. 

Landstar received the fleet mileage award for achieving the lowest accident frequency in the Over 100 Million Miles category. The company has now earned this distinction for nearly 10 consecutive years, reflecting its longstanding commitment to safety across its network. Additionally, the company has been recognized as a SC&RA Longevity Award winner, an honor that reflects more than 35 years of sustained involvement and long-term support of the specialized transportation, heavy haul, and rigging community. 

In conjunction with the company’s recognition, Landstar independent business capacity owner (BCO) James A. Freeman was also honored by the SC&RA the only recipient of the , presented annually by the SC&RA to recognize professional drivers who have reached at least one million consecutive miles of safe driving.

Freeman, an U.S. Army veteran who began leasing to Landstar in 2011, has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to safety and performance. In 2023, he earned a Gold Star of Quality designation for outstanding professionalism and was recognized as a Roadside Elite for his clean inspections and outstanding compliance, safety, and accountability (CSA) score. He has since surpassed one million safe miles with Landstar, an achievement also honored at the Landstar’s 2026 BCO All-Star Celebration. The event recognizes business capacity owners (BCOs) who have driven at least one million consecutive miles with Landstar without a preventable accident.

According to Freeman, this award reflects his focus on safe driving, consistent communication and continued support throughout his career. 

“It took hard work and dedication it took to achieve one million safe miles, but to receive this recognition while moving platform and over-dimensional loads, is even more of an accomplishment, for which I am still in awe,” Freeman said. “I am humbled and honored to be recognized by SC&RA and Landstar.” 

SC&RA safety awards recognize companies and individuals who demonstrate ongoing participation in the association and a sustained commitment to the industry. For Landstar, the recognition highlights the dedication of its independent agents, capacity providers and employees who prioritize safety, security and service excellence.
