When Landstar President and CEO Frank Lonegro climbed into the passenger seat of a Landstar truck driven by Business Capacity Owner (BCO) Jeff Stone, he wasn’t just going for a ride — he was gaining a firsthand look at life as a Landstar BCO.

The day-long ride-along from Georgia to Tennessee and back, including customer pick-up and drop-off as well as a live unload, allowed Lonegro to experience the challenges, skills, and professionalism that Landstar prides itself on.

Jeff shared insights into the routines that help him stay healthy and alert. He prepares meals in advance, stays hydrated, and uses a 24-hour gym membership whenever he can. “It’s all about balance,” Jeff said. “You have to take care of yourself and your truck.”

That sense of discipline extends to every aspect of Jeff’s business. He sets aside money from each settlement for maintenance, keeps his truck spotless, and values his tenured relationships with Landstar agents.

For Lonegro, the ride-along reinforced Landstar’s physical presence on the roadways. “We saw Blue Stars everywhere — it was clear how connected our BCOs are,” he said. “Jeff even got on the CB to say hello to a fellow Landstar BCO named Dee.” Jeff shared, “I am proud to see other Blue Stars on the road every day, and it was great to see my pal, Dee. We went through Landstar orientation together and have stayed in touch ever since. It’s nice knowing you have lifelong friends on the road.”

The experience left a lasting impression. “There’s no substitute for seeing it firsthand — the noises of the truck stop, the rhythm of the road, the traffic, the professionalism it takes to do this job well,” Lonegro said. “This experience definitely deepened my appreciation for what our BCOs do every day.”
