Steven Walker of the WDS agency in Elkhart, Indiana, was selected as the January 2015 Landstar Safety Officer of the Month. Steven and his son Skylar host a safety meeting at their facility in conjunction with the Monthly Safety Thursday Conference Call. The Walkers also assist BCOs in finding new loads and keep them updated on weather conditions in the area. The WDS agency has also utilized the M.U.S.T. program, or Mutual Understanding of Safety Together, to introduce their customers to Landstar’s safety culture.
Troy Shasko of the Shasko Global Logistics agency in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, was selected as the February 2015 Landstar Safety Officer of the Month. Over the past 12 months, more than a million miles were traveled under the agency’s dispatch without a preventable accident or chargeable cargo claim. Shasko Global Logistics dials in for the Monthly Safety Thursday Conference Call, attends LSO meetings and integrates safety into their customer visits.
Congratulations to Rick Owens of the OLI agency in Santa Fe, Texas, on being named the March 2015 Landstar Safety Officer of the Month. Owens and the OLI agency are doing things right when it comes to safety. OLI does not have any recorded DOT accidents and goes above and beyond when it comes to safety. Over the past several years, Owens has utilized Landstar’s M.U.S.T program and the No-Zone program to raise safety awareness and introduce the Landstar safety culture to their customers. Owens and his staff also call into the Safety Thursday Conference Call every month – in fact, they haven’t missed a call since 2013.
