Landstar Names Sexton Employee of the Month

April 9, 2001 Jacksonville, Florida (NASDAQ:LSTR) - Landstar System, Inc., a safety first transportation and information services company, has named Lou Sexton, Pricing Coordinator, Employee of the Month for April 2001 at its service center in Rockford, Illinois.

Sexton currently works with the company's current and potential customers, focusing on the bidding process during contract negotiations and renewals. Sexton says she loves her job and finds it interesting and challenging each day. Pricing coordination includes the preparation of contract documents as well as rate documentation. During contract negotiations, the process of on-line bidding sometimes stretches on for several days. Sexton's recognition as Employee of the Month at the Rockford Center follows her standout performance in the delivery of information needed by Landstar and its customers.

"In the pricing process, it's vital to provide information that is accurate and up-to-date," said Landstar Chairman, President and CEO Jeff Crowe. "Pricing coordination is challenging work, and the Landstar agents and customers who work with Lou know they can count on her."

Sexton is a native of the Philippines and moved to Rockford, Illinois, in 1995 to be near family. She and her husband, Roger, love to travel and spend much of their free time sightseeing.
