You can earn income as soon as you move your first load—even on your first day. Loads are billed and settled weekly. 

How long does it take to become a freight agent?

The onboarding process typically takes a month or more, depending on your readiness. Landstar provides a proven business planning and onboarding process to set you up for success.


Agent Compensation & Business Growth

What is the payment structure?

Agents earn a percentage of the revenue from each delivered load, as outlined in their agency agreement. Revenue is shared between the agent, the capacity provider, and Landstar. Landstar’s portion covers support services that help agents grow. 

Can I hire agency staff?

Yes. You have full control over staffing and can grow your agency as large as you like. There are no limits on earnings or geographic expansion. 

What ongoing business assistance is offered?
