Landstar awarded three leaders with its highest employee achievement awards at the 2026 Landstar Agent Convention in April.
Region Vice President Garrett Neal received Landstar’s Outstanding Management Achievement Award in recognition of his effective leadership and his role in driving efficiency and growth across Landstar’s network of independent agents.
“Garrett has been an outstanding leader and is most deserving of this recognition,” said Landstar President and Chief Executive Officer Frank Lonegro during the award presentation. “He has consistently demonstrated exceptional skill in advancing Landstar’s unique model and has been an asset to agency growth and development.”
Since joining Landstar in 2018 as an Area Sales Manager, Neal has consistently developed successful growth strategies for agents in his region. Promoted to Region Vice President in 2019, he led his Texas region to win Region of the Year in 2020. In addition to promoting agent success, Neal has been instrumental in advancing Landstar’s safety initiatives by representing his region on multiple M.U.S.T. customer program visits.
Landstar’s Mutual Understanding of Safety Together (M.U.S.T.) program brings Landstar agents and safety team members together with customers to collaborate on freight safety.
Landstar Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary Mike Kneller and Vice President of Government Services, Colonel Mike Cashner, U.S. Army, Retired, were both honored with the Jeffrey C. Crowe-Robert E. Zonneville Lifetime Achievement Award during the 2026 Landstar Agent Convention. This was only the second time in the award’s 31-year history that two employees received the honor in the same year. The award represents the highest level of recognition for Landstar employees.

The award was presented to Mike Kneller in recognition of his extraordinary leadership and enduring impact on Landstar. Mike joined the company in 2005 as the youngest General Counsel in Landstar’s history and has since served as Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary. Over the past two decades, he has been a trusted advisor and steady guiding voice for three Chief Executive Officers, the Board of Directors, and leaders across the organization through periods of growth, complexity, and change.
After more than 20 years of dedicated service, Kneller will conclude his employment with Landstar and join the nationally respected transportation law firm Scopelitis, Garvin, Light, Hanson & Feary as a partner based in Washington, D.C. In this new role as outside counsel, he will continue to represent Landstar, allowing the company to benefit from his insight, experience, and unwavering commitment for years to come.
The second recipient, Mike Cashner, joined Landstar in 2013 after retiring as the Chief Military Advisor to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Transportation Policy. During his 12 years with Landstar, he led the company’s government and defense initiatives while upholding Landstar’s values of safety, service, and security. Cashner has fostered close relationships with government agencies and served as a liaison for all of Landstar’s government transportation services. Under his leadership, Landstar was consistently the Department of Defense’s number one carrier, as well as the leading carrier for other government, defense, and aerospace industry shippers. In 2024, Cashner was recognized by the National Defense Transportation Association with the President’s Award for outstanding leadership and dedicated support.

Cashner recently announced his upcoming retirement as Landstar’s Vice President of Government Services. He will be succeeded by fellow United States Army Colonel, Retired, Gordon Vincent.
“Mike Kneller and Mike Cashner have been steadfast, trusted leaders during some of the most important chapters in Landstar’s history,” said Lonegro. “Their dedication, perspective, and commitment to our values have made Landstar stronger, and this award is a fitting recognition of the legacies they leave behind.”
