Landstar Transportation Logistics, Inc. is honored with multiple Transportation Safety Awards presented by The Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA) at the association's annual conference in Phoenix, Arizona, on April 25.

Landstar received the 2025 Transportation Fleet Mileage Category Award for having the lowest accident frequency in the Over 100 Million Miles category. The company was also solely recognized with the Fleet Safety Improvement Award by showing a reduction in its accident frequency rate for miles traveled as compared to the previous year's rate. 

In addition to the company awards, Landstar independent business capacity owner (BCO) George Castle was named by the SC&RA as one of two winners of the 2025 Million Miler Safety Award. 

Each year, the SC&RA selects professional drivers from member companies to be awarded the Million Miler Safety Award. According to the association, the award recognizes drivers with at least one million consecutive miles of safe driving within the industry.

"I feel fantastic about being recognized," Castle said in a subsequent interview.

Castle, who leased to Landstar in 1994, was honored by the company as a One Million Mile Safe Driver recipient in 2007 and a Landstar Two Million Mile Safe Driver in 2014. He is currently approaching his Three Million Miles of Safe Driving with Landstar and has been awarded a Gold Star of Quality in 2011 for going above and beyond.

“I am thankful every day to have driven more than a million safe miles and to be supported by Landstar,” said Castle. “I am grateful to have been with Landstar for these past thirty years. They’ve been like family to me."

Castle was nominated for the SC&RA award by Landstar's safety department. To be considered, nominees must be independent BCOs who haul heavy/specialized loads and have achieved one million safe miles while leased to Landstar. 

SC&RA is an international trade association of more than 1,400 members from 46 nations. According to the SC&RA, companies from across the world submit entries every year to the association’s safety award competition, which recognizes excellence in the crane, rigging and specialized transportation industry.
