August 7, 2003 Jacksonville, Florida - Landstar System, Inc., a safety-first non-asset-based provider of transportation capacity, announced today the recognition of its operating companies in customer surveys released by several leading industry publications.
"One thing is clear: Landstar Logistics has a lot of happy customers," said Landstar Logistics President James Hertwig. Inbound Logistics magazine recognized the company's excellence with a Top 10 3PL Excellence Award for 2003. Each year the publication's editors evaluate reader nominations and choose the top third-party logistics providers.
According to the magazine, respondents represent all industries - manufacturing, retail, distribution, service and government (mostly military). The respondent base included senior management and logistics or transportation and supply-chain management. Inbound Logistics says the survey mirrors the respondents' philosophy of cooperation and collaboration within the industry. The Top 10 3PLs survey results are published in the July issue.
Landstar Logistics is also featured in the August issue of Global Logistics & Supply Chain Strategies magazine. "Congratulations to Landstar Logistics on being selected to this year's list of 100 Great Supply Chain Partners," says Brad Berger, president of Global Supply Chain Media. "This study is more than a ranking of carriers - it's a tool for shippers, carriers and transportation providers striving for optimum performance across their supply chains," writes Logistics Management.
Thousands of questionnaires were mailed to readers who buy transportation services in 12 different modes. Respondents ranked each carrier on performance, value, information technology, customer service, equipment and operations.
"We're pleased that Landstar agents, employees, business capacity owners and other capacity providers are once again being recognized for delivering consistent, on-time quality service," said Landstar President and COO Henry Gerkens. "Landstar will continue providing the same safe, reliable transportation services customers have come to count on."
